Who doesn't love getting presents for their birthday? Well back in March I turned another year older (we won't say how many years...). I am always so excited to see what my husband gets me for my birthday. He is really not your average husband in so many ways, but for sure in gift giving. He NEVER forgets special events, and he is ALWAYS so thoughtful in the presents that he give me.
I had been looking for quite some time for an old wooden highchair for my baby girl. I searched all of the local antique shops and thrift stores, and was watching in the newspaper for any good garage sales. I was on waiting lists and had finally decided to turn to e-bay. I had been bidding on several of them, but I was so afraid that they would just fall apart by the time they were shipped to me. The shipping on most of them was going to cost more than the item itself. I was getting a little bit frustrated.
So, my cute husband found a highchair a while back from a local antique dealer. I was soooooo excited and surprised when he gave it to me. It was not in the best shape. It had Bambi and Thumper on the back, and the rest of it was covered in contact paper. We were told it was from the 40's, and I loved the strait lines on it.
My latest project was to fix it up. I wish that I had taken a before picture, but I was to excited to jump in and redo it. I sanded it down and put a fresh coat of red paint on it. I think it turned out so cute, and it is more than a highchair in the corner, now it is a decorative accent piece in my house.
